Voltron LANCELOT oneshot—Who do you trust?—@MythQueenofDarkness request

Manipulative! Lotor and Oblivious! Lance. Requested by @MythQueenofDarkness on Wattpad

Lance was trusting. He knew this. He knew trusted too easily especially for war. But mama had always said there were two sides to each story. And he was stupid enough to trust that the story they told was true.

So he couldn’t listen to Lotor. He would just have to ignore everything he said. Not believe a word.

“Are you alright? Your seem nervous,” Lotor smirked from inside his cell.
“I’m fine,” Lance lied.
“Alright then, if you’re so sure...” Lotor sighed.

...

“Why do I have to be on Lotor duty?” Lance whines as he walked into the room.
No one even looked up at him.
“Lance stop whining,” Shiro said.
“Sorry,” Lance said. “But why do I have to be the one to take care of him?”
“Because everyone else has better stuff to do?” Keith said.
“Whats that supposed to mean?” Lance asked.

“We’re just saying, there’s nothing you really do thats important.” Pidge said.

Lance was heartbroken. They were basically saying he wasn’t important! That he didn’t contribute!

“Lance? Whats wrong?” Hunk asked.
“Nothing,” Lance looked down. “Sorry for bothering you all,” he said.

____________

Lotor knew this was going to be easy. The boy Lance was weak, and cared very much about how he was seen. Fitting, as he was so handsome!
So Lotor now had a knew plan to not only escape, but take lance with him. And with so much material to work with, he would be out of the cell in a week.

...

“Why hello blue paladin!” Lotor gave a charming smile.
Lance said nothing back.
“Oh come on! Don’t make this bring for both of us!” Lotor laughter. “I mean, at least let me beg for freedom?”
“Do you honestly think you deserve freedom?!” Lance sneered. “You’re the prince of the galra. Second worst to Zarkon!”
“Aren’t there two sides to each story?” Lotor said.

Lance stopped for a second. No, he couldn’t give in.

“I can’t believe a a word from your lips!”
“Maybe you should get to know my lips,” Lotor whispered to himself.
“What?”
“Nothing!”

“But honestly, I have a side of this story you haven’t heard. After all, you paladins just threw me a cell without a second thought.”
“And why should I trust you’re side of the story.”
“Its obvious you trust easily,” Lotor said. “But do ever think you’re trusting the wrong people right now?”

_______

Those last words stuck with lance for a while. Recently the team hadn’t been including him in any meetings training or just straight up fun things! And it’s true, they themselves weren’t making an effort to interrogate Lotor and get his side. he knew this, because he sprang hours with Lotor with no other visitors.

Maybe he was trusting the wrong people. Maybe...he needed to see the other side?

...

“Alright Lotor start talking.” Lance said.
“What do you mean?” Lotor asked.
“I’m ready to hear what your side of this war is.”
“Oh! Of course!” Lotor cleared his throat.

“I wish for peace in this empire. An empire where they are free, but United under galra rule. Peaceful, galra rule. Not this cruel universe my father has created. I will admit, sacrifices must be made in effort for peace and order. However my wish is for freedom to continue my mission to achieve peace through alience.” Lotor sighed when finished. “You don’t believe a word do you?”
Lance said nothing at first. “I need to discuss this with the team. Thank you for your cooperation.”

________

“hey guys!” Lance ran into the the room, ready to tell them what’s he learned.

But then he stopped after seeing what they were doing.

“L-lance!” The team paused the screen., which was playing a movie from Earth.
“You...you guys are watching a movie?” lance asked. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“We... thought you were guarding Lotor?” Hunk said.
“Which you should be doing right now.” Shirt pressed play.

...

Lance walked right up to Lotor’s cell and opened it.
“Blue paladin?” Lotor gasped.
“Call me lance,” lance said. “The escape pods are down the hall. Go, get out of here.”
“I wouldn’t be free without you Lance,” Lotor grabbed his hand. “Come with me!”
Lance looked into Lotor’s beautiful eyes.

“O-Ok,” Lance said. “Why not? Not like the others would care.”
“Good to know you finally know who to trust,” Lotor smirked.
