Prince Lance of Altea X BOM Leader Kolivan
I remember writing something like this as a request long ago. However I didn’t understand the ship back then. So lets retry a little bit!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The war with the Galra Empire was raging on. Prince Lance of Altea’s heart hurt, seeing all his galra friends, his good old uncle Zarkon, become their enemies. Sure, it had been years since they had become enemies. Didn’t make it hurt any less.
Prince Lance walked through the halls, his cape flowing behind him. He walked into the dining room just as his sister, Princess Alurra, slammed her hands down in rage.
“It’s ridiculous!” She cried out.
“Alurra, its the only way!” His father, King Alfor, said.
“No! No I won’t do it!” Alurra crossed her arms.
“Alurra, they were once our allies-“
“WERE! They are bloodthirsty monsters now!”
“Whats going on?” Lance made himself known.
“Lance...” Alfo hesitated.
“Father is insisting I marry a no good, bloodthirsty, GALRA!” Alurra screeched.
“What?!” Lance gasped. Alurra? In an arranged marriage?
“I know right?!”
“Lance let me explain,” Alfor said.
Alfor stood from his seat.
“A group of powerful galra have surfaced. They call themselves the “Blade of Mamora”. They are working to fight Zarkon from the inside. We wish to ally with them. However, they want something in return. They want a royal of Altea to marry their Leader.”
Lance gasped.
“Its an outrage!” Alurra said. “Its a trick! They’re just like the empire!”
“Alurra I’m sure thats not true,” Lance said. “We...we knew the galra! We had galran friends-“
“HAD!”
“Alurra! You know they weren’t like that! These Galrans might be key to changing the tide of the war!”
“With Voltron we will manage-“
“Voltron hasn’t been formed since Zarkon became our enemy! We can’t rely on the lions right now!”
“You of all people, Lance, should understand why I am against this!” Alurra cried. “An arranged marriage?! How can you support a loveless marriage!”
“Because its not you he’s going to marry.” Lance declared.
The room went silent. Alurra’s eyes widened, and so did Alfor’s.
“Lance,” Alurra whispered. “You can’t possibly mean...”
“Me.” Lance announced. “I will marry the Blade Leader.”
“Lance my son,” Alfor said. “This is a big responsibility. You would live on their base out in the galaxy. You may never see us again. And you’ve always wanted to marry for love! You will not be doing that here.”
“I know,” Lance sighed. “But I can’t bare the thought of Alurra being away from the place she’s loved so much. And no offense, but if Alurra isn’t up for the responsibility, I am.”
Alurra felt a bruise to her pride, but it was true.
Alfor sighed. “Very well. I will inform the BOM we have a deal.”
...
Lance walked through the halls of his castle. He looked out every window, onto his Planet. He was leaving it all behind. He may never see the sunny skies again. He may never see the beautiful white walls again. He may never see his Family again. But this is what it took to win the war. And he would do everything he can to do that.
“Lance!” Alurra rushed up to him.
“Alurra,” Lance smiled softly. “What’s up?”
“I....I’m going to miss you so much!” She hugged him, sobbing into his shoulder.
Lance began to sob too. “I’ll miss you too! B-But...But I have to do this.”
After a bit they parted, sniffling and wiping their tears.
“I...I came to tell you your bag has been packed. And its time to greet the blade.”
“What have I been allowed to bring?”
“Altean clothing, your crown, and the wedding dress.”
“Thats...Thats it?”
“And this,” Alurra held out a gift.
It was a knitted stuffed Juniberries flower. It was tiny, and fit in the palm of her. Their mother had given it too Alurra when she was young. However, their mother had died when birthing Lance. Lance never got to meet her.
“Mother’s Juniberry?” Lance gasped, as he took the item in his hands carefully.
“You’re going to need it more than I do.” Alurra nodded.
“Thank you Alurra!” Lance hugged her again.
“Now come, we have to greet your future spouse.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lance arrived in the throne room with Alurra. Their father was speaking to two blade members. One was a normal sized galran, while one was a tall GIANT of a person. The latter must be the leader.
“I present, Prince Lance.” Alurra nodded as they entered.
Lance bowed before the two galrans.
“Prince Lance,” the smaller galra said as they approached Lance. “This is the Blade’s leader, Kolivan. Your betrothed.”
The leader took off his mask. He was....very handsome for a Galran. A intimidating aura surrounded him, yet his yellow eyes made Lance feel.....safe.
Kolivan bowed, and kissed Lance’s hand.
“It is an honor to meet you,” he said.
Lance blushed, but nodded. “I look forward to our— uh, companionship.”
Kolivan nodded. “The wedding will be in a week. Your family will be able to attend.”
“Thank you,” lance smiled.
“Well, we better be going.” The smaller blade said. “The base shouldn’t be left without Kolivan for long.”

The BOM color scheme was very darker than Altea’s. While Altea was very white, blue and silver; the BOM was black and indigo. Not purple, like the Galra Empire though.
And yet, Prince Lance still found himself curious by everything. Every room they passed seemed to only be a meeting room, dorm room, or training room. What the hell was Lance supposed to do all day?
Lance was....not a strong boy. He had a basic set of training for self defense, but thats it.
(hahahahaaa and as you can see, I dont give a shit about Lance’s cannon self :D )
Lance would figure it out. In the meantime, he should focus on his betrothed. Getting too know his....husband.
Prince Lance had been following Kolivan through the halls. As soon as they got there, another BOM member had taken his things and rushed off. Kolivan had been leading Lance around since. Lance had no idea where, the man didn’t speak much.
Lance would speak, but he wasn’t sure of the protocol. If he was the traded item, was he even allowed to speak?
“Excuse me Kolivan,” Lance spoke up. May as well find out right? And why call him by a title, this was about to be his husband!
“Yes My Prince?” Kolivan said.
Good, he’s in the clear. “Can I ask where you’re taking me?”
“I have a meeting to attend. To finalize the Altean treaty.”
“Am I attending?”
“Yes.”
When they entered the meeting room, all the blades stood to attention. As Lance passed by, they slightly bowed.
“You may be seated,” Kolivan said.
The blades sat down, but Lance kept standing. He hadn’t found a free seat. Kolivan noticed this though. He scooted out, and patted his lap.
This was so sudden! Lance blushed as he took a seat on the side of Kolivan’s lap. However Kolivan continued as normal.
The treaty would be giving Altea thousands of armies, ships, and weapons. In exchange, Altea would be giving the BOM resources such as food, medical care, and....Prince Lance. The treaty was signed, and at the wedding the Alteans would sign it before the ceremony began.
...
Lance was once again following Kolivan. Was this his life now? Just following around a big handsome guy while he does his duties?
“Thank you for being patient,” Kolivan said. “Those tasks were urgent.”
“O-Of course!” Lance said. “Um...what now?”
“It is late, I will lead you to our room.”
Their room?! Everything was moving so quick! But Lance was in no place to object.
They arrived in a large room. It was obviously the largest of all the bedrooms because Kolivan was the leader. It had a huge bed. Kolivan was already large, and this bed could probably fit four of him! On the wall there were thousands of blades and swords. Under it was a small table, holding Lance’s crown. There was a walk in closet, which held Kolivan’s suits. And now Lance’s clothes as well. And a suit of white...
Lance walked into the closet wordlessly, and looked at the clothing. It was long sleeved, and was tight around the wrists. The it was form fitting near the waist but became lose and flowy by the hips. The rims were lined with lace. There was a pair of matching dress pants, that had Alteans embroidery.
While it was lovely, it was very simple. Not at all what he would expect as a Prince. However the marriage was such a quick choice, so there was no time to make a royal wedding suit for the prince. Lance would manage.
Lance quickly walked back out of the closet, to see Kolivan staring at him.
“S-Sorry!” He cried. “I just saw the o-outifit and got distracted!”
“It is fine, my Prince.” Kolivan said.
The two just stood there, silent. What now? There was simply nothing for Lance to do here. Oh goodness a life of BOREDOM! Worse than death!
“It is late, we should rest.” Kolivan said. He walked into the closet and began to change. Lance blushed and looked away. When he opened his eyes, Kolivan was shirtless in boxers. Oh god he was ripped. Lance blushed harder.
“Are you going to sleep in that?” Kolivan pointed to Lance royal suit.
“N-No! Sorry!” Lance rushed into the closet, however he closed the door. He came out in boxers too, but a silk night shirt. Kolivan nodded respectfully, and got into bed. Lance slid in slowly next to him. No way was he gonna sleep tonight.
Lance felt Kolivan drape his muscular arm over his in a spooning way. Lance blushed harder. Nope. No sleep for him.

There was no way for Lance to know when day was. Nor the time really, he didn’t even know how late it had been when they’d went to bed. So when the alarm rang, Lance rubbed his eyes sadly. He hadn’t slept a wink.
Kolivan yawned as he awoke.
“Did you sleep well, Prince?” Kolivan asked.
Lance hugged himself as he nodded.
Kolivan lifted Lance’s chin so he could look at him. “You did not.”
Lance blushed. Kolivan stood up. He walked over to Lance’s side of the bed. He fluffed the pillow and then flipped it so that it felt cold and fresh. He laid Lance back on the pillow softly. Then his lifted the blanket into the air and let it fall onto Lance softly. He gave Lance a kiss of the forehead.
“Sleep well my Prince,” he whispered, and left the room.
Lance blushed for a second, before he conked out.
...
When Lance awoke, it was to the sound of the door opening. A blade had entered, but it was not Kolivan.
Lance sat up slowly.
“I’m sorry, did I wake you?” The blade asked.
Lance slowly nodded.
“Please forgive me, your highness.”
“Its okay,” Lance mumbled rubbing his eyes. “Who are you?”
“I’m Thace,” said the BOM member. “I’m close in rank to Kolivan. However he sent me to check on you. Said you didn’t sleep well.”
Lance shook his head. “No, I did not. However I just took a nap and I’m feeling better.”
“Good to hear. I will let him know.”
“Mr. Thace?” Lance called
“Yes?” Thace Turned to him
“What am I to do here?”
“What do you mean?”
“All I’ve seen are training rooms and meeting rooms. What do I do?”
“Do Alteans do more than discuss and train?”
“Of course!”
“Such as?”
“Well...we would swim on beaches, travel, shop, how can I possibly sum it all up? I guess we...leisured?”
“Ah I see.” Thace nodded. He didn’t seem annoyed. Actually a bit more understanding. How could a Prince go from a life of excitement and leisure to a War Rebellion Organization base? They would have to find something to occupy his time.
“I will discuss this with Kolivan.” Thace said.
Lance nodded.

Kolivan was quite happy that Prince Lance was here. The Prince was handsome and kind, and would make a good mate. Even if it was arranged, he hoped that they would learn to truly love eachother.
“Kolivan,” Thace walked in.
“Hello Thace,” Kolivan nodded. “How is the Prince?”
“He has awoken from his rest, and is feeling better.”
“Good! I will go see him-“
“Before you do!” Thace cried.
Kolivan turned around.
Thace sighed. “You are being a bit forward sir. You two only just met. And Alteans are a bit slower in their mating process.”
“I see. I will work on that.”
“Also, the Prince seems a bit....unoccupied. He is restless.”
“Oh...”
“We just simply don’t have many activities for a non-fighter. However, I belive we can do some research and find something.”
...
Knitting.
With Kolivan’s large hands, you would never expect him to have average ability with it. However when Thace had discovered the activity, Kolivan tested it before he showed it to Lance. He wanted to be able to do it with Lance. So when he learned he was decent at it, he introduced it to Lance.
Kolivan entered his room. He saw Lance sitting at the chair next to the window. It out looked the beautiful stars and galaxies.
“My Prince,” he called.
Prince Lance turned to him, and smiled respectfully. “Hello Kolivan.”
“I was informed you are unoccupied.” Kolivan sat in a chair across from Lance. “I have brought this, for us to do.” Kolivan held out the yarn and needle.
Lance gasped as he took it. “Kn-Knitting?” He teared up.
“Oh dear, does this displease you?”
“N-No! This is wonderful!” Lance smiled. “I...before my mother died I’m told she would knit. I’ve always wanted to learn!”
Kolivan nodded. “Well, I hope this will help you be less bored. And perhaps...we can do it together?” Kolivan blushed a little bit.
Prince Lance smiled a dazzling smile. “Of course!”
Kolivan wasn’t perfect at knitting. His hands were very large, and he wouldn’t see when he made a mistake with the stitch. So while he was technically making a scarf, it would look more like a ratty blanket. Lance however was a Natural. He smiled brightly as he created his third cup holder. And the smile on his face made it all worth it...
“Did you miss a stitch again?” the Prince asked, glancing over to Kolivan’s scarf which had once again begun to become a mess.
“It appears I have,” Kolivan said. “My Prince, will you please assist me once more?”
Lance chuckled, and joined Kolivan’s side once again. He helped Kolivan untangle the yarn until he arrived at the point of mis-stitch. He placed his hands on Kolivan’s, and helped him stitch it correctly again. He had done this a few times, and Kolivan was embarrassed but thankful.
“Are you positive this is your first encounter with knitting?” Kolivan asked.
“Yeah!” Lance smiled. “I can’t believe I’m so good at it! I’m glad I am, it makes me feel closer to my mother.”
“I am glad.”
There was a knock on the door, and a Blade Member stepped inside.
“Sir, you are needed in meeting room 7.” They said.
“Yes, Of course.” Kolivan set down his Knitting supplies and stood up. “I must attend to business now, My Prince. Excuse me.”
Lance looked up at him. “O-Okay.”
Kolivan gave a curt nod, and exited their shared room.
The two were beginning to bond, even if it was at a slow pace. However they could only grow closer, until the day of their arranged wedding. And they could only hope that they were in love by then. And after today, it seemed they were surely on their way.
THE END
LOL sorry for the rushed ending, this was an old draft I dug out lol and I wanted to finish it hahaha!
