I'd like tho think this takes place somewhere in season 2, but before they knew about the BOM? Prince Lotor is mentioned, which is someone no one else knows about yet lol.

Team Voltron was on an infiltration mission. It was a super big ship, run by a powerful Galran General, General Korag. There was bound to be valuable information to be used
against Zarkon here, and Pidge was going to find it no matter what. In the meantime, Keith was gaurding Pidge from any possible attack. Shiro and Hunk were looking through the cells for any sign of Matt Holt or Samual Holt, or any other prisoners in need of rescuing. Alurra stayed in Blue, as their get-away lion.
Suddenly, a screaming alarm went off through the entire ship. Keith turned to the Green Paladin.
"Pidge!" He scolded.
"I didn't do anything!" Pidge defended. "I had just finished downloading everything! Nothing was faulty, there was no trap trigger—"
"Well something happened," Hunk said through the coms. "And now we've gotta go!"
"Split up," Shiro commanded as everyone began to run. "Everyone take a difficult route on Pidge's map to get to the Blue Lion. That way there we won't be facing an army."
Keith and Pidge nodded, and seperated at a hall in the ship. Keith went right, Pidge went right.
There was a decent ammount of Galra enemies for Keith to defeat on the way, and at least four galra's chasing him as well. He could see the airlock doors up ahead, Pidge going through them. He picked up the pace, everyone was at the Blue Lion already and he was the last paladin left. But the ship lurched and shook out of nowhere, and Keith lost his footing. And while he recovered quickly, it was still too late.
The Blue Lion had been tossed from the airlock exit and the Galra ship was now speeding away. Keith rushed ro the airlock doors, placing his hands on the glass. Before he could even try to think of what to do next, he felt several harsh and strong hands grab onto him.
Then nothing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Keith awoke, he was in a Galran Prison Cell. A solitary one, by the looks of it. They had taken his helmet and armor, leaving him in his undersuit.
Fuck, Keith thought to himself. I don't have my bayard or anyway to defend myself. I'm strong, but I can't take on a Galran Gaurd with my fists alone.
His attempt to plot escape was interrupted with approaching footsteps. But these footsteps were different than any other Galran he had heard. They were quiet and delicate. The only reason he knew it wasnt a rebel coming to rescue him was the lack of speed, clearly whoever this was was not in a total rush. And he knew it wasnt anyone from Voltron, he had memorized their footsteps months ago.
Finally a figure approached the bars of his cell. It was a Galran Gaurd, their head covered in the uniform helmet. Keith shuffled back against the far corner of the room, hiding in the shadows.
"Paladin, come into the light; in front of me." The gaurd ordered.
Keith didnt make a move, glaring at the gaurd.
The Galran huffed in frustration and fired a shot from his blaster. It the wall inches from Keith's face, and Keith let out a cry in surprise.
"I won't ask again!" The galrab demmanded. "Into the Light, now."
Keith stood up, and slowly approached the lighter area closer to the bars. He tried to keep a confident and brave stance. He wouldnt let this lowly gaurd scare him—
The gaurd jumped back in shock, stumbling so much he actually fell over.
Huh, looks like I scared Him. Keith noted to himself. Guess he can't handle a paladin of Votlron.
"What's wrong?" Keith taunted, raising and eyebrow. "Never seen a Paladin of Voltron before?"
"Holy shit, you're like me." The Galran gaurd said in awe, standing up recovered.
"I am nothing like you!" Keith shouted grabing the bars of the cell and shaking them in rage.
The Galran put his blaster away and started to actually ramble.
"Well I mean I guess not exactly like me," he began to talk. "I mean you have a sharper jawline and your skin is much paler than mine and that haid oh my gosh its hidious is that a mullet? I could never—"
"What the Quiznack are you talking about?" Keith asked, frustrated. "And its not a mullet!"
"Yeah it is! And sorry, I've just never seen anyone who looked like me before!"
Keith couldn't see it, but the Galran sounded like he was grinning underneath the helmet. Which uneased him a but because a Galran soilder smiling at a prisoner could never be good.
"Just…wow!" The gaurd looked at Keith like he was a diamond in a museum. Weirdly made Keith feel flattered for a moment.
But then the Galran took off his helmet. And he wasnt a Galran at all, he was a human. He was clearly a beautiful human male, tan brown skin with dark hair. His eyes were the same blue color as the blue lion.
But again, he was clearly a human, from Earth! How did he get this far into space? How was he working for the Galra Empire?!
"You're…you'rs human!" Keith gasped.
"Human!" The Human Gaurd gasped as well. "Is that what you are? Human, yes! Yes, I'm human!"
"Who…who are you?"
"Oh! My name is Lance, Lance McLain!" He held out his hand for a handshake, but then immediately took it back. "Wait, I probably shouldn't have told you that."
"No! No, tell me!" Keith said. "Tell me how you got so far from Earth! Tell me how your with the Galra Empire!"
"Whoa, pretty forward to ask me for my whole life story! Ask me to dinner first!"
If it wasnt for the situation Keith would have blushed.
"Wait, Earth?" Lance asked. "Whats that?"
"E-Earth!" Keith shouted. "Its our planet! Where you were born!"
"Uh, where you were born mullet." Lance corrected. "I am Galran Empire, Born and Raised."
Lance facepalmed. "Ah! Why am I telling you all of this?! You're a paladin of Voltron, a Prisoner!"
"Its fine," Keith reassured him. "My name is Keith Kogane, I was born and raised on Earth. There, we're even."
"I guess we are. Surprised you trusted me like that."
"Me too," Keith admitted. "I've never done something like that before, even with other humans."
"Aw, were you bullied—"
"How did you know?"
"—because of your mullet"
"…Its not a mullet!"
—————————
Lance Mclain was the one who watched over Keith during his imprisonment. Lance told him they were transferring straight to Zarkon's ship, for the Emperor to torture the Red Paladin himself.
"Its a really big honor!" Lance had smiled. "I mean, if you have to die at least its for the Empire!"
"The Galra Empire, you guys, you're the bad guys! Its not an honor!" Keith had argued.
"Hey, just because we're kicking your ass in this war doesnt make us the bad guys!"
"You enslave planets! Commit Genocide to thousends!"
"OK fair, but I personally align myself with Prince Lotor more than Emperor Zarkon." Lance said it like he expected Keith to know what any of that meant.
"Prince Lotor?" Keith asked.
"Yeah, Zarkon's son?" Lance raised an eyebrow. "He prefers to create a Galran Republic, allying with planets instead if enslaving them. And of course there are unpleasantries, but thats just politics."
This was mindblowing for Keith. Zarkon had a son, a Galran Prince. And he was a good guy? If Keith ever got out of here he was gonna have a lot to tell the team.
…
There had begun an unspoken agreement of trust, Earthling to Earthling. Keith normally wouldnt have any faith in something like that, and yet he found himself telling Lance things he definitely shouldnt tell a Galran soilder. Things about himself, his feelings, his thoughts on silly things that didnt even matter. Lance claimed to have the same unexpextes trust in Keith too, saying he had never told anyone his thoughts about how much he noticed the beautiful nature of the planets around him before destroying them with the empire or his adopted Galran Family, which was really just his mission team.
Speaking of which! Lance asked about Keith's family before. Team Voltron was the only family Keith had ever had, and he refused to tell Lance anything about them. However Lance told Keith about how his human mother—the only human in the galran prisons before Shiro—whom had given birth to him in the Galran prisons. She had died during childbirth, and being a child with potential the Galran Empire raised him as one of their own. And he indeed had potential, has he was a prodigy with any blaster.
"My Codename is Sharpshooter!" Lance had told him.
"Hold on, your codename? Why would you just tell me that!"
"Well Zarkon's probably gonna kill you anyway, so why does it matter?" Lance tried to play it off like comman knoledge, but his eyes had lowered and he looked slightly nervous.
Keith looked at him to continue. "And?" Keith knew Lance wasn't done yet.
"And…maybe if your team does end up rescuing you you can—I don't know, keep an eye out for me? So that maybe we can see eachother again?"
Keith let himself blush this time.
"But pffft! Like thats gonna happen!" Lance scoffed.
"Yeah, silly." Keith said.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But it did happen. Keith was finally rescued by team Voltron. The ship shook violently during one of Lance and Keith's conversations. Lance and Keith both knew what it was, and Lance stood up with his blaster.
"Lance please," Keith said. "They're here for me, just let me go to them!"
Lance didn't face him, but did mumble to him: "fall down."
In that moment, Lance fained a violent stumble as if the ship had shaken again. Keith followed along with whatever Lance was planning. Lance "fell" and his blaster was "flung" from his hands. After that the ship actually did shake again, the the security camera above them fell and shattered on the floor. Lance then turned to Keith ans unlocked his cell.
"Thanl you Lance," Keith said. "I…I don't know what fo say right now."
"Don't say anything," Lance said. "Just get to your team! Go down that hall!"
"But—"
"What are you waiting for?"
"You."
"What?"
"Lance, I'm not going to leave you here. Come with me! You can be on the right side, help us team up with Lotor! We can teach you about humans, about Earth!"
"Keith I…I can't."
"Lance please—"
Lance suddenly grabbed onto Keith Shoulder's and kisses his lips. It was fast, little more than a peck. But he looked into Keith eyes and smiled. "Promise you'll remember me, ok?"
Keith looked at Lance with pleading but ultimately hopeless eyes. "I will. I promise."
Lance nodded.
Keith finally began running down the halls. "I'll come back for you! I promise!" Keith shouted.
Lance shook his head, with a small smile. He called back with "I'll remember you too Keith!"
