~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Keith and Lance had spent hours traveling through a hot and humid jungle on the Aleins planet. They were not happy about it, but it was then only way to get to the Planet’s River in which they could gather the mineral Water samples Pidge needed,. Princess Alurra and Corran had told them from the Castle that the air was safe to breathe, which was a relief to the two “rivals”. If they had to have their hot and stuffy Helmets on during this too? They would have been much more grumpy thats for sure.
“Uhg, this humidity is going to ruin my hair!” Lance whined.
“Will you stop complaining?” Keith groaned. “Its not gonna make it any better!”
“Well at least I don’t have a mullet making it even hotter.” Lance smirked.
Keith rolled his eyes.
They would never admit it, but the bickering was a nice way to get their mind off of everything. They were…enjoying time together?
Finally, they reached the end of the Jungle. In the distance, across a feild of Alein flowers, was a massive waterfall pouring into the river. It cooled the air all the way across the flower feild, which made Keith and Lance sigh in relief.
“Hey Keith, first one to the WaterFall wins!” Lance shouted and he began to dart across the flowers.
“Lance you ass!” Keith shouted after him, quickly catching up.
The two smiled as the breeze relieved them of the Jungle’s uncomfortable environment.
As they kept running, Keith started slowing down. Which was strange, he usually had good stamina? But something about the area made him so tired. No, not tired: Sleepy. But why? He slept fine last night, and was fine in the jungle!
“Slowing down Keith?” Lance taunted from ahead. “Pick ups the pace! I’m about to win!”
Keith started to run again, he couldn’t run out of steam now.
But he couldn’t hold back a yawn, as the fatigue grew. Again, his paced slowed down. “Lance…!” He called out.
“Keith?” Lance turned back to see Keith was still behind him. “What gives? You OK?”
“Are you tired…are is it just me..?”
“Its just you.” Lance said. “I feel fine! Like I could run a marathon-“
“I’m serious Lance,” Keith had slowed to a walk. “Are you feeling sleepy too or is it really just me?”
“Y-Yeah, I’m fine.”
Lance walked back to Keith. Keith’s steps were slow, and he stumbled on each one. Just as Lance got to him, Keith had finally stopped walking. He was swaying in place, rubbing his eyes.
“Keith, what’s happening to you?” Lance asked, genuinely worried.
“I don’t know,” Keith mumbled. “I’m just…really sleepy.”
Lance hated to admit it, but sleepy Keith looked absolutely adorable. He yawned like a kitten and his speech became small and simple. But now wasn’t the time!
“Its OK Keith, you’ll be OK.” Lance said. “Just stay awake for a little longer. We’re almost there!”
Keith nodded. “Y-Yeah Ok,” he stretched his arms up, trying to wake himself up. “I-I’ll just take a quick 5 minutes and then we can go…”
“What?! No! No, Keith stay awake!” Lance shouted.
“Wh-Whats happening…to me?” Keith’s eyes looked genuinely scared, but they drooped as he slowly began to lose the battle against sleep.
“I-I don’t know!” Lance said. “J-Just stay awake Keith, you’ll be OK.”
“Lance…I’m…I’m scared—“
Keith’s legs gave out from under him and he collasped into Lance’s chest. Lance quickly caught him, in his arms and made sure that’s neither of them fell down.
“Keith? Keith wake up!” Lance shook the red paladin.
Keith didn’t stir, completely asleep.
“Aw fuck this is bad…”
Lance lowered the two off them to the ground, the beautiful Alien Flowers shading Keith from the sun.
“Hello? Corran?” Lance spoke into the coms.
“Yes Hello Lance!” Corran replied happily. “What is it? have you retrieved the water?”
“Not exactly.” Lance said. “We were so close, when suddenly Keith began acting strange. He got really tired out of nowhere, and now he’s completely passed out!”
“Quiznack!” Corran hissed. “I thought that because Keith is only half Galra the flowers wouldn’t affect him!”
“What are you talking about?”
“Based on where you’re tracking devices state you are, you’re in the middle of a flower feild. The Flowers are poisonous for Galra, throwing them into a coma.”
“WHAT?!” Lance shouted. “Corran! What do I do?!”
“You need to get him back to the castle, he’ll need a healing pod.”
“In can’t carry him back through the hot jungle!”
“Ok, Ok,” Corran said quickly. “I can send Shiro in a smaller rescue pod. There’s no garentee its safe ti fly after 10,000 years but its all we got. Just stay with Keith, Corran out!”
The coms went out and Lance sighed.
He looked down at Keith’s face, very peaceful despite being poisoned. His head rested on Lance’s knees, and his lips were parted softly. Lance let his hand rest on Keith’s cheek. “It’ll be OK,” he whispered.
THE END
(I’m tired ok)
