OK SO LEMME EXPLAIN!
I somehow ended up on 'Sophia the First' tiktok--specifically Cedric the Sorcerer focused side lmao. I really liked the tiktoks about Cedirc and Sophia being friends and Found Family Father/Daughter lmao. Apparently Sohia/Cedirc is also one of the most popular ships in this fandom. Which, EW! So uhm, we're not doing that obvi.
I had an idea that while Cedric at first is depserate for Sophia's Amulet of Avalor, he begins to see her as a daughter lmao. And while Sophia loves her new family, she still can't connect to her new Dad and ends up seeing Cedric as a father figure. Cue Found Family LOL.
Also, we are doing all this in a 'season 1' time period. So any character development anyone else has we're gonna ignore lmao. Just season one lore, characters, and basic ideas lmao. However in one scene I'm probs going to MENTION Sophia's birth father. Other than that, just chill season 1 lol.
(Ignore that this one is DEFINITELY not season 1 lmao)
OK LETS GOOOOO!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Cedric the Royal Sorcerer first met Princess Sophia, he was not expecting to find a daughter. Of course, that was not right away. He was rather annoyed with her when she first began her new royal life.
Cedric was admittedly flattered when the new Princess looked up at him in awe. She gave a slow gasp, her eyes sparkling with pure amazement.
"Mr. Ceedric!" she cheered, pronouncing his name incorrectly.
"Its Cedric." He corrected her, the flattery completly gone.
The princess excitedly rambled on and on about how amazing it was to meet a real sorcerer in person. She lived(and now ruled)a kingdom called Enchantia, had she really never seen a magical being before? He scoffed. She continued to praise him for the most simple of things, which would have been charming if not for the fact he knew he could be doing so much more! He began to tell her as such, until he worked himself frustrated and decided to vanish in a puff of smoke. He didn't want to speak to the naive Princess anymore.
He only got more frustrated when she received the Amulet of Avalor, a mystical and powerful tool he had spent years searching for! And that simple little princess-if you could even call her one-- had been gifted it?! He vowed he would steal the Amulet, he deserved it not her! So when he saw her arrive at the castle from her first day of 'Royal Prep' school, soaking wet and clearly sad, he decided it was the perfect opportunity.
He greeted her and asked her how her day was, acting oblivious. When she said 'Tougher than I thought it would be', he gave her a pat and invited her to his Wizard's workshop to 'cheer her up'. She happily agreed.
The Princess was in awe of the workshop, and even spotted the book her had purposefully left open to the page about her Amulet. He told her the classic Prophecy of the Amulet's power, and tried to convince her to let him take a look at it. It didn't work though, since she was devoted to her vow to never take it off. He tried to 'politely' kick her out, but what he didn't expect was for her to take a seat on his stool and begin to genuinely talk to him.
"Mr. Ceedric--"
"Cedric." he corrected quickly.
"James played a Prank on me today at school. He put me on a magical swingset, and I was thrown into the lake!"
"Oh?" Cedric resisted the urge to roll her eyes at the unprompted conversation.
"And apparently its a Prank played on all the new students. I guess? But James knows how new I am to royal life entirely, and it hurt my feelings he still played the prank on me."
Cedric was beginning to actually pay attention, kneeling down in front of Princess Sophia. It was probably taking a lot of courage for her to vulnerably tell him this.
"I've already been freaking out about this Royal Ball, and after today I just feel worse!"
"You're worried about the Ball?" Cedric asked.
Sophia nodded. "I know nothing about being a Princess, and I'm the absolute worst at dancing! Its supposed to be a party in my honor, but I don't know how I can possibly enjoy it if I feel like I don't belong here."
"Did you discus this with the king?" Cedric stood up for a moment, to feed his pet Raven Wormwood. "Tell him you didn't want the silly Ball?"
Sophia nodded. "I tried, my first night here! I told my Mom, and I know the King was listening. But then he gave me the amulet! I don't want to seem ungrateful."
Cedric brought Wormwood over. As grumpy a bird her was, Wormwood could bring a smile or two when he wanted to. He gave out a silly 'CAW!' and it made Sophia chuckle a bit.
"How about this," Cedric said, as Sophia stroked Wormwood's feathers. "Try extra hard tomorrow at Royal Prep. Work hard to learn to be an amazing Princess, show them all that you have what it takes!"
"But--"
"And, if you still feel like you're not good enough for the Royal Ball, I'll help to make sure the night is a little bit more magical. Hm?"
Sophia nodded. "Ok Mr. Ceedric."
"CEDRIC."
After a cruel trick from Princess Amber, Princess Sophia did return to Cedric for that Promised Magical help. Cedric pulled his own cruel trick, and gave Princess Sophia a spell to put everyone into a deep sleep and told her it was a dancing spell. Sophia would have no choice but to hand over her Amulet if she wanted him to make everyone wake up!
But Cedric had his own slip up, and was caputured in his own spell! When he awoke, Sophia had broken the spell all on her own. And after making up with Princess Amber, it seemed she had become a perfectly acceptable dancer as well! While Cedric was very discouraged with his foiled plan, he was bit proud of Sophia for solving and overcoming her worries about the Ball.
THE END
Its just a drabble, I’m not rlly gonna finish this lol. But here’s the one little ‘convo’ I wrote down so there’s that Bonus if u want:
…
Sophia: My dad—my BIRTH dad…he died at sea a long time ago. And even tho I really do love my new family here, and my new stepdad…I’ve never felt like I really had a dad after mine died.
Cedric: I’m sorry to head that Princess Sophia. I wish there was something I could do to help.
Sophia, leaning into Cedirc’s side: You’re the person in this castle…this new LIFE for me…you’re the one I really feel like is my family.
Cedric, resting his hand on Sophia’s back comfortingly: I never really connected with my family either. Living up to my father’s legacy, My sister’s successful life; and while my mother was affectionate it always felt like there was alterior motives behind it, even if I never figured out what they were. I guess what I’m trying to say is, you’re also someone I consider Family Princess Sophia. A family I can truely belong in.
Sophia: I love you Mr. Cedric
Cedric: I love you too, Sophia.
